Bloggers Around Mindanao Gathered Together in One Event in General Santos City

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I am from Cagayan de Oro City and I traveled 7 to 8 hours Bus ride from CDO to Davao via Bukidnon province and stayed overnight at Sampaguita Inn in Davao City. The next day I headed right away to General Santos for another 3 to 4 hours Bus ride with Dennis and Kathy, while the three stoogies (lolz… sorry guys this is my blog) Raphael, Grace and Alma catch us up later that night to GenSan. I tell you, I wasn’t really feeling good on my travel going from the City of Golden Friendship to the Tuna Capital of the Philippines, because I have a diarrhea while I was on the bus and the feeling was so uncomfortable that you need to hold on for that CDO-Davao trip. But I made it just to be on the Second Mindanao Bloggers Summit and meet those people behind the blogs I read and visit from time to time. Anyway, even though I have that scenario on my travel somehow sometimes I forgot that feeling because of the wonderful scenic view of mountain ranges along the way. Those winding roads makes me feel like I was riding on a roller coaster and it was kinda fun.

It was my first time in General Santos City and I did have fun with it. General Santos City, my first impression before on this City is just the tuna. Everytime I heard about the city all I can associate with it are just those big tuna fishes. But when I arrived at the City, aside from being a clean and peaceful city, what I admired most about General Santos City is the traffic. You cannot be congested on traffic on most crossings and junctions in the city with its wide roads and highways I can almost sometimes say it is a runway.

Anyway, the MBS2 theme is entitled: Mindanawon Paminawon Intawon – Blogging the Mindanao Consciousness and it was held at Family Country Hotel & Convention Center. It has been hosted by Migs Hipolito and Joana Grace Banting-Lapore and was facilitated by General Santos City’s true Bariles Mr. Avel Manansala and was headed by Blogie Robillo. Speakers are Walter I. Balane for Voices from Mindanao Heartroots: Notes on life and Living in the Communities, Hector P. Miñoza for Mindanao Consciousness on reshaping Social Outlook and Identity, Google Philippines Aileen Apolo for Tips and New Social Media for Mindanao Bloggers. The cute entrepreneur woman from Davao Ria A. Jose also discussed about Blogging the Entrepreneurial way of life, I won’t also forget Mr. Bobby A. Timonera who inspires me to start photo blogging because of his awesome captures on Images of Mindanao from the perspective of a Mindanaoan. Oh by the way, I forgot about Pierre Tito Galla a.k.a. Jester-in-exile, who also shares his views on Mindanao. (Sorry dude… I started being forgetful after my travel). Lyle Santos also shares how he earns thru his blogs and even fooled us with the Mr. Almighty website at the Family Country Hotel lobby while we were on a break at the summit, but later exposed the secrets of it.

Outdoor Lifestyle Blogger – Dr. Bone Doc MD of Laarni Lozada PDA2 Winner’s hometown Sultan Kudarat talks about his outdoor blog. Tech blogger Migs of Davao and the witty Student blogger Mikko Gozalo. Mark Aethen Agana an Advocacy blogger the one who met us when we arrived in General Santos City also made a shout out at the summit. Of course Blogie Robillo and the Bariles himself Mr. Avel Manansala who made all the people in the summit stand up after he shared his side of blogging and claimed and thanked for the standing ovation. (LOLs, he owned us that time.) By the way the lunch was sponsored by Mayor Jun Acharon of Gen. Santos. How about the Sashimi night cocktail? Of course since we are at the Tuna Capital the organizers won’t let us miss to experience their thinly sliced raw fish. Well, I love eating raw fish or kinilaw as what we called in Bisaya but with sashimi I kinda say no because of the wasabi sauce, I am just not use to the wasabi taste. The Fellowship Dinner courtesy of Hon. Cong. Darlene Antonino-Custodio is great with the jaw dropping few numbers of dance performances of the Magsaysay Memorial Colleges Teatro Ambahanon Contemporary Dance. The “Manoy,” a duet performed by Julius Lagare and Deejay De Vera was the best and the one got the top prize at the CCP dance fest last June 12-16, 2008. After the dinner of course those bloggers are not just good on making their fingers dance on keyboards but they can also dance to the music of the Genrhythmics band composed of government employees from the Local Government Unit of General Santos. Even Blogie Robillo whom I thought a serious one made his way to the dance floor and went crazy with his sexy dance together with the rest of the party  lover bloggers and the night ended with all of us wet with our own sweat and satisfied with the party we had and went home for the next day will be a tour around General Santos City and as promised we will visit the “Pambansang Kamao” mansion.

That’s all for now and I will post more about my MBS2 and Northern to Southern Mindanao tour.
